Hazrat Ayesha (ALLAH be pleased with her) the mother of all believers narrates Al-Harith bin Hishãm (ALLAH be pleased with him) asked the messenger of ALLAH, ” O the messenger of ALLAH, how is the divine revelation revealed to you? ALLAH’s messenger replied, sometimes it comes like the ringing of a bell sound and this form of revelation is the hardest of all. And then this state passes off after I have grasped whatever was revealed. Sometimes, the angel comes and talks to me in the form of a man and I grasp whatever he says“. Mother Ayesha (ALLAH be pleased with her) added: “Verily I saw the Prophet (peace be upon him) being inspired divinely and noticed the sweat dropping from his forehead on a very cold day as the revelation was over.” [Sahih Al Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 1 – The Book of Revelation, Chapter 2, Hadith 2]
In this hadith it is said that, sometimes the revelation comes like the ringing of a bell. Here a verb “come” is used to describe the revelation. People might question that the act of coming and going is the quality of living creature with a soul, but the term “revelation” is not a living being? The answer to this is the bringer of revelation Angel comes and the bell-like ringing sound is the sound generated by it’s wings. Scholars said that the Angel has 600 wings and is so huge that it seems to cover the entire region between the Earth and the Sky.
The arabic word “SilSilatun” is mentioned in the hadith, It means the sound that is produced when two iron structures strike each other. According to Ibne A’bbas it’s meaning is ringing of dry clay. Another arabic word “Jaras” is used in this hadith which means dull voice. Mohammad bin Abu Bakr Raazi writes the sound that is generated by the beak of birds. The noise generated by bells that is tied in the neck of camels also means Jaras.
Mohammad bin Abu Bakr Raazi (Radiallahu a’nhu) narrates that he was on a journey with the Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him). When all the companions went to sleep, the Prophet (peace be upon him) sent a message to cut off the bells that are tied in any of the camels’ necks.
Aur kabhi farishta mere liye mard ki shakal mein mutashakkal hojata hai so woh mujhse baat karta rehta hai aur mai aakhaz karta rehta hun keh woh kya kehraha hai. Hazrat Ayesha Radiallahua’nha bayan karti hai keh “Beshak maine daikha keh sakht sard din mein aap par wahi naazil hoti toh jis waqt wahi aap se munqata hoti toh apki peshani se paseena mubarak behraha hota.” [Sahih Al Bukhari, Jild 1, Kitab 1 – Kitab Al Wahi, Baab 2, Hadith 2]
Is hadith mein farmaya hai: Kabhi kabhi wahi mere paas ghanti ki jhinkar ki misl aati hai. Isme wahi ki taraf aane ki nisbat ki gayi hai. Ispar yeh aitraaz hota hai keh aana jaana Rooh wale ajsam ki sifat hai aur wahi toh Rooh wali jism nahi. Is ka jawab asal mein yeh hai keh haamil e wahi yani farishta mere paas aata tha aur ghanti ki jhinkar iske paron ki aawaz thi aur jab feil ki nisbat iske faayil ki taraf ho toh isko isnaad haqeeqat aqli kehte hain aur jab feil ki nisbat iske kisi mutallaq ki taraf kisi taweel se ki jaaye toh isko isnaad majaz aqli kehte hain. Aane wala toh farishta lekin chyunkeh woh hamil e wahi tha isliye aane ka isnaad wahi ki taraf kardiya. Ulama ne bayan kiya keh Jibrael ke 600 par hain aur inki awaz aati toh Nabi Kareem ﷺ ko wahi ke waqt apni poori tawajjuh lagani padti.
Is hadith mein “SilSilatun” ka lafz hai. Iska mana hai lohe ka lohe ke saath takrane wali aawaz. Hazrat Ibne A’bbas ne farmaya iska mana hai khushk mitti ke bajne ki aawaz. Neiz is hadith mein “Al-Jaras” ka lafz hai. Iska mana hai past aawaz. Allama Mohammad bin Abu Bakr Raazi likhte hain Parinde ki choonch se nikalne wali aawaz ko Jaras kehte hain. Oonton ke galon mein jo ghanti bandhi huwi hoti hai aur inke chalne se jo ghanti ki aawaz aati hai isko bhi jaras kehte hain.
Hazrat Abu Basheer Ansari bayan karte hain keh woh kisi safar mein RasoolAllah ﷺ ke saath the. Aur log sone ke liye chale gaye the toh RasoolAllah ﷺ ne yeh paigham bheja keh jis oont ke gale mein bhi koi Qalada (Haar ya ghanti ki rassi) ho usko kaat diya jaaye.
