Sa’eed bin Jubair narrated from Ibne A’bbas in the explanation of the statement of ALLAH, “O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), do not cause your tongue to move along with the Qur’an in order to learn it faster”. ALLAH’s messenger used to recite the Holy Quran very fast by stressing himself so as to retain it and used to move his lips quickly with the revelation. Ibn ‘Abbas moved his lips saying, “I am moving my lips (in front of you) as Allah’s Messenger used to move his.” Sa’eed moved his lips saying: “I am moving my lips, as I have seen Ibn ‘Abbas moving his”. Ibn e A’bbas added, ALLAH revealed “O dear Prophet, do not cause your tongue to move along with the Qur’an in order to learn it faster. It is upon us to collect it and make you recite it. The statement of ALLAH: “After we have recited it to you, listen to it and follow it. It is upon us to make it clear to you. It is upon us to make you recite (By heart). After this, the Prophet ﷺ used to listen to Jibrael whenever he came and after his departure, the Prophet used to recite it as Jibrael had recited it. [Sahih Al Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 1, Chapter 4, Hadith 5]
One question might arise in a few brains that, The Quran has mentioned regarding the movement of the tongue. While Ibn e A’bbas has stated with respect to the movement of lips. There is no contradiction in this. For the movement of the tongue, movement of lips is necessary. Stopping from the movement of the tongue actually means stopping from the movement of lips.
Whenever a verse came to the Prophet, he used to move his tongue. The Prophet used to repeat it with the Angel Jibrael. His intention would be to memorize the verses. Then Almighty ALLAH revealed this verse.
Ibn e A’bbas said regarding this verse, “It is upon us to gather the Holy Quran in your heart. So, whenever any verse us revealed listen to it carefully. Rest is upon us to make you recite the Holy Quran. After this, whenever the Angel Jibrael would come, the Prophet used to listen to it with his utmost attention. After his departure, the Prophet would recite it as the Angel Jibrael recited.
In the commentary of this verse, Imam Raazi states that the Prophet used to recite along with the Angel Jibrael and used to ask the meaning of difficult words or verses. So, Almighty ALLAH prohibited from both of these and stated as “O Prophet not to read with the angel instead listen to him and recite it after he finishes. And do not worry about the meaning of the Holy Quran. It is our responsibility to make it clear to you.” (Tafseer Kabeer, Volume 10, Page 729)
(Al-Qiyamah 16) ki tafseer mein bayan kiya keh RasoolAllah (Sallallahu a’laihi wa sallam) Quran e Majeed ke husool mein mushaqqat uthate the aur aap apne honton ko hilate the. Hazrat Ibn e A’bbas ne farmaya mai tumhare liye honton ko hilata hun jis tarah RasoolAllah (Sallallahu a’laihi wa sallam) honton ko hilate the. Aur saeed ne kaha mai is tarah honton ko hilata hun jis tarah maine Hazrat Ibn e A’bbas ko hont hilate huwe daikha hai. Phir inhone apne honton ko hilaya toh ALLAH taala ne yeh aayat nazil farmayi: “Aap Quran ke saath ujlat mein (yaad karne ke liye) apni zaban ko harkat na dein. Farmaya Is Quran ko aap ke seene mein jama karna aur apka isko padhna (hamare zimme hai). Pas jab hum isko padh chukein toh aap is padhe huwe ki itteba karein. (Jibrael ke padhne ke dauran aap sunein aur khamosh rahein). Phir apke liye isko bayan karna hamare zimme hai. Yani phir apka isko padhna yeh hamare zimme hai. Iske baad jab Hazrat Jibrael aate toh RasoolAllah gaur se sunte, phir jab Hazrat Jibrael chale jate toh Nabi is tarah Quran padhte jis tarah Hazrat Jibrael ne padha tha. [Sahih Al Bukhari, Jild 1, Kitab 1, Baab 4, Hadith 5]
Hazrat Ibn e A’bbas radiallahu a’nhu bayan karte hain keh jab RasoolAllah (ﷺ ) par koi aayat nazil hoti toh, aap jaldi jaldi apni zaban ko harkat dete. Aap hazrat Jibrael (A’laihissalam) ke saath us ayat ko dohrate rehte the. Aapka irada yeh hota tha keh aap us ayat ko hifz karlein, tab ALLAH ta’ala ne yeh ayat nazil farmayi.
Hazrat Ibn e A’bbas ne farmaya: “Yani hamare zimme hai keh hum is Quran ko apke seene mein jama karein. Pas jab hum Quran ki koi ayat nazil karein toh aap gaur se sunein. Phir yeh hamare zimme hai keh hum is Quran ko apki zaban se padhwayein. Iske baad jab Hazrat Jibrael aate toh sar jhuka kar baith jate. Phir jab woh chale jate toh aap Quran majeed ki un ayaton ko usi tarah padh lete the jaisa keh ALLAH ta’ala ne wada farmaya tha.
Iska mana yeh hai keh apka padhna Hazrat Jibrael ke padhne ke sath sath nahi hona chahiye balke wajib hai keh jab tak Hazrat Jibrael padhte rahe, aap khamoshi se unke padhne ko sunte rahein hatta keh Hazrat Jibrael apne padhne se farigh hojayein toh iske baad aap padhna shuru karein.
Imam Raazi farmate hain “Yeh ayat ispar dalalat karti hai keh Nabi (ﷺ) Hazrat Jibrael ke padhne ke sath sath padhte the aur inke padhne ke darmiyan mein Quran majeed ke mushkil mubahesa aur iske mana ke mutalliq Hazrat Jibrael se puchte rehte the toh ALLAH ta’ala ne Nabi (ﷺ) ko in donon baaton se mana kiya aur farmaya, Aap Hazrat Jibrael ke sath sath na padhein balke unke padhne ke baad padhein. Aur Quran Majeed ke mana ke mutalliq aap pareshan na hon. Na Hazrat Jibrael se uske mana ke mutalliq puchein. Iska mana bayan karna hamare zimme hai.
