Do not praise yourself, nor rejoice when others praise you.
This is very easy to understand. In order to become a good Muslim liked by Almighty Allah and His Messenger, one can practice on this beautiful attribute of Imam Ali. Even though he was one of a great companions of the Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) he never used to admire himself regarding good deeds that he performed day and night.
It was easy for him because all his actions were to seek the pleasure of Almighty ALLAH. His focus was on the upliftment of Islam, not upliftment of his praise or fame. He uplifted the Islam and Almighty ALLAH uplifted his status.
