Surah Baqarah Verse 10 Transliteration

فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ فَزَادَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مَرَضًا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْذِبُونَ

Fee quloobihim maraDun, fazaadahumullahu maraDaa wa lahum a’dhaabun aleemum bimaa kanoo yakdhiboon

Surah Baqarah Verse 10 Translation

In their hearts is a disease, so ALLAH has increased their disease; and for them is a painful punishment, because of their lies.

Surah Baqarah Verse 10 Explanation

Here the act of increasing ‘زَادَ’ is related towards Almighty ALLAH as it was in the word “خَتَمَ” in verse 7.

“عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۢ” means painful punishment. The punishment which would be very severe and unbearable.

كذب means telling something else other the existing thing. According to Islamic investigators, showing against the hidden beliefs and talking against the real incident both are conditions for kizb.

The lie of the hypocrites was that they had disbelief in their hearts and they used to lie by saying ‘ءَامَنَّا‘ (we believe) . It is known from this that it is strictly forbidden to lie to ALLAH and his messenger. The ruling varies with different situations and usage. Sometimes it is haram, and in some cases makrooh, permissible or necessary. For example, in this hadith, Asmah daughter of Yazeed narrates that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, It is not permissible to lie other than in 3 situations:

1. A man lying to please his wife
2. Lying in the war
3. Lying to create peace between two fighting people.

Disease Meaning:

If a person’s body is suffering from some illness that affects his health and normal functioning is termed as disease.

Disease in reality is the sickness of body, and the spiritual diseases such as jealousy, love of evil, etc. come under the phrasal meaning of disease. The disease of the hypocrites was spiritual because ever since the Prophet visited Madinah, the leadership of Jews was gone in Madina. Their hearts used to burn out of envy which was their disease. And the status of the Prophet was increasing day by day, with this their disease was also increasing. Or due to the repeated descendings of the Quranic revelations and because of increasing Islamic rulings and restrictions on them, their disease was increasing.

مَّرَضٌ includes their disbelief, bad assumptions, disrespect, abusive speech all. Due to their jealousy, the progression of Islam became the sickness of their heart. That is why their disease increased further. It is also clear that good deeds and bad deeds have their effects on the soul due to which the spiritual status varies.

Surah Baqarah Ayat 10 Tarjuma

فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ فَزَادَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مَرَضًا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْذِبُونَ

Unke dilon mein (shak aur nifaq ka bada bhari) marz hai (keh woh unke dilon ko roghi aur kamzor banaye huwe hai) toh ALLAH ne unka marz aur badha diya hai (Nazil karda Quran se kufr karne ki wajeh se) aur unke liye dardnaak a’dhaab hoga unke jhoot bolne ki wajeh se  ( يكذبونَ ki Qiraat mushaddad bhi hai yani ALLAH ke Nabi ki takzeeb karte hain aur dosri qiraat bit-takhfeef hai yani apne qaul ءَامَنَّا mein jhoote hain)

Al Baqarah Ayat 10 Tashreeh

“زَادَ” ki isnaad khatama ki tarah ALLAH ne apni taraf ki hai.

“عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۢ” Aleem Isme fayil ke mana mein bhi lesakte hain. Aur a’dhaab takleef dene wala hota hai aur ba mana Ism e mafo’ol bhi lesakte hain jisse maqsood mubalagha hoga. Is qadar sakht tareen a’dhaab hoga keh a’dhaab khud takleef mein hoga.

“كذب” khilaaf e waaqey baat ko kehte hain. Aur Islami muhaqqiq ke nazdeek khilaaf e aiteqaad aur khilaf e waqey dono kizb ke liye shart hai. Munafiqeen ka jhoot yeh tha keh unke dil mein kufr tha aur zaban se ءَامَنَّا (hum imaan laaye) kehkar jhoot bolte the. Isse maloom huwa keh ALLAH aur uske Rasool se kizb qatayi haram aur jahannum mein lejana wala kaam hai. Aur kizb ki mukhtalif suratein hain, baaz haram, baaz makrooh, baaz mubah, baaz wajib mehal istemal aur mauqa ke lihaz se faraq rahega. Misaal ke taur par is hadith mein hai, Hazrat Asma binte Yazeed radiallahu a’nha bayan karti hain keh RasoolALLAH ne farmaya, 3 suraton ke siwa jhoot bolna jaiz nahi hai:

1. Ek shaks apni biwi ko raazi karne ke liye jhoot bole
2. Jang mein jhoot bolna
3. Logon mein sulah karane ke liye jhoot bolna

Marz ki tafseer:

Insan ke badan ko aisi cheezein aariz hon jinse uske mizaaj aur aitedal mein farq waqey ho aur uski kaarkardagi mutassir hojaye, usko marz kehte hain. A’waariz jismania mein marz haqeeqat hai awaariz nafsiya masalan hasad , baaz burayi se mohabbat waghaira mein marz majazan hai. Munafiqeen ka marz nafsani tha kyunke jab se Nabi sallallallhu alaihi wasallam Madina Munawwara tashreef laaye the, Madina mein yahoodon ki riyasat jaati rahi thi. Is gam mein unka dil jalta rehta tha aur yehi jalna hasad karna unka marz tha. Aur RasoolALLAH ka iqtidar din ba din badh raha tha, isse unka marz badh raha tha. Ya baar baar Qurani wahi nazil hone aur unko din ba din zyada ehkam ka mukallaf karne se unka marz badh raha tha.

Marz ki tafseer mein unki bad-aqeedgi, badghumani, bad zubani, hasad wa andesha sab dakhil hai. Aur hasad ke baais roz ba roz Islami taraqqiyat unke liye sauhan e rooh bani huwi hain. Is liye dil ke beemariyon mein taraqqi aur izafa hota jata hai. Muasi par amraz e qalb ke itlaq se maloom huwa keh neki aur badi ka ek mizaaj aur tasiraat hoti hain jisse rooh mutassir hoti hai.
